Privacy Notice

This notice explains what information may be collected when someone uses Ulster County Inmate Population, how that information is used, and when it may be shared. By using the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here.

Information You Enter

Search Terms

When a name, location, or other detail is typed into a search box supplied by a partner, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Ulster County Inmate Population does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.

Messages

If you send an email or other message, the information in that message may be kept long enough to read, route, and answer it. We do not share message content outside the organization unless a legal requirement makes disclosure necessary.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Like most websites, this site may receive basic technical details when a page loads, including:

  • IP address.
  • Browser name and version.
  • Device type and operating system.
  • Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
  • Referring website, if one is passed by the browser.
  • Date and time stamps.

Cookies

Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand traffic patterns and site performance. Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked or deleted, although some features, partner tools, or ad settings may work differently after cookies are limited.

How Information Is Used

  • To keep the site available, usable, and reasonably fast.
  • To send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
  • To understand which Ulster County jail, court, DOCCS, BOP, ICE, and VINE pages are useful.
  • To diagnose broken pages, security issues, and other technical problems.
  • To display advertising that may be based on general browsing interests.

Outside Websites and Public Records

This site links to Ulster County Sheriff's Office pages, the Sheriff's FOIL form, New York court portals, DOCCS resources, BOP, ICE ODLS, VINE, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the privacy notice and terms of that outside service control the visit. New York public-record requests made to government agencies are handled under rules such as Public Officers Law Article 6, including FOIL sections 87 and 89, not under this website's privacy notice.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for ad measurement or interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on their systems, not in a jail or court record hosted here.

Who May Receive Information

We do not sell personal information. Limited information may be provided to the following categories when needed:

  • Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool.
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance.
  • Advertising networks involved in ad delivery and measurement.
  • Law-enforcement agencies, courts, regulators, or government bodies when required by a valid subpoena, court order, or similar legal process.

Security

Reasonable security practices are used for the information this site controls. No internet-connected website, email system, search partner, or analytics platform can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Visitors Under 18

This site is intended for adults. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a deletion request may be submitted for review.

Your Data Choices

  • Ask for a copy of personal information the site holds about you.
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected.
  • Ask for deletion of information where deletion is legally and technically available.
  • Object to or opt out of certain uses where applicable law provides that choice.

Notice Updates

This privacy notice may be revised from time to time. A revised version becomes effective when it is posted here with an updated effective date or equivalent update signal.
